We are cognizant of the drastic changes in the energy sector's dynamics since at least 2016. The familiar fundamentals of the industry have greatly changed. We have witnessed an oversupply of oil, price drops, changes in market structure, and the emergence of new players. Gas prices have also witnessed significant fluctuations driven mainly by perceived demand growth in China and continued advancements in renewable energy applications ...Growing trade tension between the two major world economies had already provided greater uncertainty to global energy prices before the impact of COVID-19. In the Spring of 2020, the pandemic added to the sector’s challenges and added increased vagueness to normal activities and the resultant impact on long term energy prices. Energy companies and industrialists have to adjust their strategies to survive these new settings. In this fast-changing environment, we found a market gap that needed to be filled, and thus, METAS started to broker dialogue between various stakeholders under our guiding principle of “aligning interests – finding solutions”. This successful strategy helped us consult with various state enterprises, multilateral agencies, and international companies on a wide array of topics, ranging from LNG and pipeline transport to gas supply-demand analysis and market and hub development. During this period, we also expanded our consulting to cover renewable energy and organizational development. In order to face these new challenges, we have also taken steps to strengthen our presence in the market, METAS has undertaken many steps to foster our internal structure, increase our mix of experts and collaborators, deepen our alliances in the consulting field, and outreach to new and related sectors.
